Windows has endowed itself with the passage of time in a special way to protect the integrity of the system and prevent inexperienced users from entering sites that could be detrimental to it with just a small change. It is for this reason that when Windows operating system it is fully structured and has folders that cannot be easily accessed.

In this article we will investigate what is contained in this important folder inside, we will also investigate how this can be accessed, what methods exist to enter this. We can also address the issue of whether or not we can delete this folder that due to its contents, it is best advised that it should not be modified and much less deleted; since this is sensitive information for the operating system in general, in any case let’s see that this is all.

What’s in the WindowsApps Folder folders?

In this sense, WindowsApps Folder is responsible for having in its content those applications and gadgets for the Windows desktop, which are of its own creation, this to prevent them from being modified and deleted. In that type of folders the information of the software installed on the computer is hosted for this reason, it is essential to preserve it if you make changes.

As these are installed in Windows’ own applications, applications with which this same program works, are hidden and even if you can access them, they can not be deleted in the conventional way we know. Also to find it can not be done by a simple route even if its location is in C: / ProgamFiles, these are designed for security purposesyou need to be sure and know what you are going to do before entering this part of the system.

How do I access the WindowsApp Folder folder?

As for access and how we can deal with finding the specific route of this, we must make use of the same Windows applications, to access WindowsApp Folder. For this we will access, on the one hand, with the file explorer and, on the other hand, we will enter with the blue screen known as PowerShell, each of these methods is different, but they bring us closer to what we need to access. This is not the case with password protected Windows folders.

accessing windowsapps through the file browser

Before proceeding we must know a couple of features of this folder, the first is that it is hidden, ie not shown and can not be easily seen, this gives us to understand that although we are positioned on the site that contains it will not appear; and the other thing that characterizes it is that this folder has a lock for all users owned by the system, regardless of the freedoms of access they have.

From the file browser

The browser has qualities that allow us to find the information we need if we know how to use it, so it will give us access to everything. We must first enable the view of hidden files and folders, before you begin your search. To activate this part of the browser we will proceed as follows.

We will open a browser window, we are located in the menu and activate the box “hidden items”, now this option is activated, and then we will go to the path to locate the folder that will be visible, “C: programfiles windowsapps” we will right click on this folder and then properties, to edit the permissions; We now perform the following steps:

  1. In the “WindowsApps Properties” window go to “Security”.
  2. Now we go to “Advanced Options”.
  3. In the window that appears we give “change” to the option “Cannot show the current owner”.
  4. In the new window we assign to the “Administrators Group”.
  5. We give “OK”.
  6. In the new window check the box “Replace owner in sub containers and objects”.
  7. “Apply” to generate the process and accept.
  8. Then, we locate the WindowsApps folder and try to enter and a warning will appear which should be clicked on “Continue”.
  9. We will now have access to this folder.

Using PowerShell

For this procedure with PowerShell, we open it from the beginning by right-clicking to give administrator permission, in this we enter the Get-AppxPakage – AllUsers | Select Name PakageFullName ” with this we can see the list of installed Apps in the folder, this way we can enter modification or uninstall commands by adding the names contained for each installed program.

  1. A warning “permission to access this folder has been denied” will appear.
  2. Let’s go to the “Security” tab. Enter Advanced and then click Change.
  3. Enter the name of the object, to select the group enter “Administrators”.
  4. Check names and “OK”.
  5. Replace owner.
  6. Advanced and click “Continue” on the “Security” tab.
